The development of this engine began a few years ago as a personal project by our engineer Joan Ramon MartÃ, a.k.a. JR. Using some discarded parts from X45, and making many other parts by hand in his spare time, he managed to build several engines with different performance, reaching up to 15N (3.4lb) of thrust. Unfortunately, the impossibility of improving the engine's performance without more suitable parts, especially the rotor, meant that he was unable to take advantage of the full potential that this engine size (51mm/2") can develop.
Recently, Xicoy's management decided to help JR with his project, and made available several professionally designed and manufactured parts for this project.
The result has been excellent, in a short time the engine has reached the calculated performance parameters, achieving a weight/power ratio of over 1:10.
Currently there are no plans for mass production of this engine. We are considering the difficulties of developing the auxiliary elements (ecu, valves, starter, etc.) necessary for the engine to operate under the same ease of use conditions and performance as the rest of the Xicoy engine range.
We must also consider the cost of this project, and whether there is a sufficient market to justify the investment, since the manufacture of this engine will be more difficult due to the extremely small tolerances required, which will increase the price of the engine similar to one of 130-160N, for sure more expensive than the current X45.
